The Motorola Droid

The Motorola Droid, or “Droid” for short, is Morotola’s first major reintroduction into the phone market since the popular RAZR model was released several years ago.  This time, Motorola has embraced Google’s Android platform, creating a compelling piece of technology that utilizes both a touchscreen interface and a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard.  The phone is truly a beautiful device, with all hard edges, angular cuts, and built with a combination of plastic and metal, this phone has a very expensive look and feel to it.

The basic structure is comprised of two pieces, the touchscreen which comprises the upper half of the phone, and the keyboard which is hidden when the phone is compacted, but easily slides out when the user wants to type on an actual keyboard for extended use.  This is one area where the Droid truly excels – the iPhone does not have a slide out QWERTY keyboard, something many pundits are quick to point out.
